Description
Minnesota Midget Melon is great for short growing seasons! Compact, 3 ft. vines bear large crops of 4 in. melons. Thick meaty, gold-yellow flesh has a unique flavor with high sugar content. Edible to the rind, high-quality fruits have fine dense netting are early flowering and resistant to FW.
Muskmelons and Canteloupes grows well with corn, pumpkins, radish and squash. Marigolds, nasturtiums and oregano will act as bug repellent if you plant them with your melons.

Planting and Care Sow indoors up to 4 weeks before last frost date at 85 deg.and then transplant at the 4-leaf stage or directly seed into rich soil in full sun when temperatures are nearing 80 deg. Black plastic mulch can be used to warm the soil before planting. Germination temp: 80-90 deg.
Provide average water and use protective row covers to protect against beetles. Apply fertilizer when 3″ (7.5cm) tall.
Harvest Fruit will often slip from the stems with a slight pull when ripe. Seeds can be harvested when the fruit is ripe for eating.
