This Revegetation Grass Mix is a mixture of cool-season bunch grasses that balances quick germination with durability. It has good palatability for livestock and wildlife and includes species with extensive root systems to provide soil stabilization on roadsides and ditch banks and revegetation of disturbed sites and rangelands. This is good for foothills and mountain areas and is drought tolerant and cold hardy. Mix 1/4 lb. of a Wildflower seed mix with every 5 pounds of grass mix for a meadow effect.
SEEDING RATE: Use 3 – 4 pounds per 1,000 square feet. Broadcast over the area in the spring before a heavy wet snow or rainy spell. Raking the seed into the top 1/4 inch of soil will help ensure good seed to soil contact and, if possible, irrigate until established.
MATURE HEIGHT: 12 to 48 inches.
General Grass Seeding Tips:
Timing: Seed in the Early Spring or Summer when the soil temperature is 50 to 80 degrees
Preparation: Ensure adequate drainage of your site. Cultivate 4-6 inches of topsoil. Incorporation of a starter fertilizer will help provide proper nutrients for early growth. Keep seedbed firm, not fluffy.
Maintenance: Allow seed heads to dry and scatter prior to mowing or cutting. Do not mow less than 6 inches. A good fertilizer program will promote better disease control and encourage uniform grass growth. Overseeding any bare spots will help to minimize weed growth. Spring or Fall are excellent times for overseeding.
