Description
These peas are a famous generation of a garden pea. This variety is the earliest of all snap peas and they have beautiful purple flowers. The vines are dwarf, compact and yield a bonanza of 2-3” pods. Crisp, crunchy and delicious, the whole pods are eaten when they are plump and round. Serve raw or cooked. They are also good for freezing. The young sprouts have been used as a gourmet garnish. Great to plant for winter microgreens. The shoots are sweet, crunchy and delicious. Harvest them at about 2″ tall. Their quick germination make them one of the most productive for microgreens.
Peas fix nitrogen in the soil which helps them to form a close friendship with corn. You can also plant your peas with bush beans, pole beans, carrots, celery, chicory, cucumber, eggplant, parsley, early potato, radish, spinach, strawberry, sweet pepper, tomatoes and turnips. Keep your peas away from chives, grapes, late potatoes and onions.
