Description
This introduced species has become a much loved, eye-catching splash of color along slopes and meadows across the country. It will provide a spectacular late-spring show while your other flowers get ready for a gorgeous summer. The giant ruffled crepe-like petals with eggplant dark spots rise on tall sturdy stems over finely hairy foliage. The colors can range from white and rose to salmon and scarlet-crimson. Plant Oriental Poppy as a specimen or in groups with later summer bloomers ready to fill in as the foliage of this species becomes dormant and dies back in the summer.
