This mixture will provide a quick burst of vibrant color to any site. Great for already established grass and wildflower areas. Excellent for overseeding ‘worn out’ plots.
Our All Annuals Wildflower Mix is an all-annual wildflower seed mix that delivers a quick burst of vibrant, multicolored blooms in the first season. It is especially useful for overseeding worn-out plots and refreshing already established grass and wildflower areas, while still performing well in new seedbeds.
Bloom Timing: Early to mid-summer through late summer and fall (timing varies by planting date)
Color: Multicolored flowers
Sun: Full sun for best results (some species tolerate partial shade)
Site Fit: Gardens, borders, patches, meadows, and refresh projects
Zones/Regions: Adaptable across many regions; tagged for Zones 3a to 10b
High Altitude: Suitable for high altitude sites
Available Sizes: 1 oz, 4 oz, 8 oz, 1 lb
Coverage Snapshot (lush to moderate): 1 oz covers 100 to 150 sq ft; 1 lb covers 1,500 to 2,000 sq ft
Why?
We built this mix for fast seasonal color with minimal waiting. Since these are annuals, you can use it to quickly brighten thin areas, add variety to existing wildflower plantings, or create a bold first-year display.
Where?
Use it in full-sun planting beds, edges, open patches, and meadow-style areas. It is also a strong choice for overseeding established grass and wildflower areas that have thinned over time.
When?
Plant in early spring for first-season bloom, or use late-fall dormant seeding for spring germination.
Water?
Consistent moisture is the key to germination. Keep the soil surface evenly moist during establishment, then taper irrigation as plants become rooted and growing steadily.
Planting Information
Best Planting Season:
Spring planting: Seed about one month before your last hard freeze, or when you can reliably keep the seedbed moist.
Late fall dormant seeding: Seed after freezing nighttime temperatures are consistent so seeds stay dormant until spring.
Easy Planting Instructions:
Prepare the site: Choose a well-drained area with full sun. Remove weeds and choking grasses.
Build the seedbed: Loosen hard-packed soil, but avoid deep tilling. Disturb only the top 2 to 3 inches.
Spread seed evenly: Divide seed into two or more batches and broadcast each batch over the entire area for even distribution.
Press for contact: Lightly rake so seed “snuggles” into the surface, then press with hands or a board.
Cover lightly: Cover seed very lightly, about 1/8 inch. A thin layer of mulch can help hold moisture.
Water during establishment: Gently soak and maintain consistent moisture for 4 to 6 weeks, then taper as plants become established.
Growth Requirements:
Full sun and good drainage
Performs across many soil types when weeds are controlled
Works for both new seedbeds and overseeding projects
Seeding Rate: (from lush to moderate coverage)
1 oz: 100 to 150 sq ft
4 oz: 375 to 500 sq ft
8 oz: 750 to 1,000 sq ft
1 lb: 1,500 to 2,000 sq ft
5 lb: 7,500 to 10,000 sq ft
10 lb: 15,000 to 25,000 sq ft
25 lb: 1 to 2 acres (1 acre = 43,560 sq ft)
Overseeding and Renovation (established areas):
Mow existing growth closely, rake thoroughly to expose small pockets of soil, then broadcast seed in two directions. Press seed into the surface and keep the area consistently moist during establishment. Spring and late fall are both excellent timing windows, depending on your moisture and temperature patterns.
Common Mistakes to Avoid:
Deep tilling that brings up dormant weed seed
Burying seed too deep
Over-seeding (crowded plants are weaker and bloom poorly)
Letting the soil surface dry out during germination
Skipping seed-to-soil contact (always rake lightly and press)
