Organic Long Purple Eggplants have dramatic foliage and the colorful fruit of this warm season plant make it a great vegetable to grow in containers and flower gardens. The 8–10 inch long, club-shaped fruits of this productive plant are deep purple with firm mild flesh.

Start long purple eggplant seedlings inside about 6 weeks before last frost date. Set in outdoor beds about 2-3 weeks after the average last frost when the soil temperature reaches 60 F. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in the full sun.
Water regularly and fertilize when plants are 6″ (15cm) tall and again in the mid summer.
Remove the fruits fromthe plant whenthey are a glossy dark purple and about 6-8″ long.
Eggplants are a good source of folic acid and potassium as well as other vitamins and minerals.
