Description
Purple Rockcress
Purple Rockcress, Aubrieta deltoidea is a low growing, mat-forming perennial, introduced from Eurasia and the Mediterranean, has medium green leaves and brilliant purple to violet blooms. This plant is a perfect addition to stone walls, rock gardens and used as a ground cover. Great for pollinators!
Plant in the early spring. Start seed indoors 6 – 8 weeks before the last expected frost date and transplant outside or into pots. Direct seed after all danger of frost is past by pressing into fine soil and lightly cover with a thin layer of good soil as the seeds need light to germinate. If irrigation is possible, soak the area once and keep moist until germination. In dry climates or in drought, up to 1/2 inch of irrigation per week may be required after germination until plants become well established.
