Description
Honey Source Flower Seed Mix
This is a long-blooming mix of beautiful, nectar and pollen-rich annuals and perennials for our Honeybee friends. Plant this Honey Source Mix to provide vital nutrition for the European Honey Bees. These hard-working pollinators are necessary for our agricultural production and major contributors to our food supply. Lack of native nectar and pollen sources between crop rotations can cause stress and starvation that contribute to colony collapse.
Nectar and pollen are necessary for the survival of all pollinators, Edge-to-edge planting of mono-crops and increasing urban and suburban development have contributed to the decline of honey bees and native pollinators. In urban areas flowering plants and trees have been replaced with man-made materials and grass lawns.
Take a little bit of time and effort to plant pollinator-friendly plants, trees, and bushes in your garden, or pots for your patio. Get your neighbors to do the same, making a food corridor for the bees and native pollinators to travel along. Often the plants that these beneficial insects require are also drought-tolerant, native plants that will help reduce your overall water consumption. Choose a selection of plants that will come into bloom at different times of the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Start by planting one of these great wildflower mixes designed specifically for native pollinators and honey bees.
